Where can i find Lipitor online,  But I wonder if it goes a step further:  does it also serve as a place that helps introduce tourists into the community.

Ireland has become a tourist destination in part because their pubs and other establishments successfully help tourists connect with locals.  In the process, where can i buy Lipitor online, Order Lipitor from mexican pharmacy, the visitors develop a better sense of place.   They get a chance to feel the uniqueness of each community.

That process is vital to any rural community implementing a tourism strategy.  After all, it's unlikely that small towns will develop big museums or event centers that larger communities use to attract visitors.  But a lot of people just want to experience a unique place where they can meet special people.   Small towns can fulfill that wish by developing good third places, Buy Lipitor Without Prescription.

I am a proud owner of a “third place” in Parker, SD called the Cherrybean Coffee Co. Since opening for business I have enjoyed meeting several intentional tourists, that is people from other places that are in town visiting thier families. Recently, however, I have been getting quite a few people from Sioux Falls (30 miles away) who make the mini trek to have a caramel rolls and buy thier coffee for the week ( I am also a coffee roastery). These people have surprised me with the question, “what else is there to see in Parker?” I was raised here, I graduated here, I moved away, I came back because there is no better place to raise children, I’ve never thought of Parker as a tourist destination but it may be time that myself and our Development Committee may need to start asking ourselves that question, “what is there to see in Parker”. It is ironic that often people living in cities get lonely, they crave a place where people still communicate, not just talk. I find my biggest fans are from the largest cities. They buy coffee, t-shirts, mugs, email me, they love being able to take back a momento of a place with zero pretense. I intended to make this a coffee shop where Starbucks meets Olson’s (Little House on the Prairie) and I believe we have done it. Cherrybean is a coffee shop with no rules. Rather, I listen to what the need is in town and then humbly try to fill it.

How cool! Reed raises an interesting question: can a third place spark the development of a tourism industry in a small town? In addition to being lonely, I think many people from cities crave something unique. Parker undoubtedly offers many unique characteristics. Perhaps it just needs to develop them a little further.

Equally important, however, people in the local community can be lonely and need a place to connect. I’m fascinated by notion that good third places help initiate new residents into the community. I’d highly recommend that you check out Celebrating the Third Place. I’ll have more information on it in tomorrow’s post.

PS – Reed, what’s your most popular coffee? I see that I can purchase some online.

It has been very rewarding to see a new resident to Parker get “connected” at the coffee shop. It sort of work like this. Local people are sitting around a table drinking coffee and conversing. A person they do not recognize walks in, I talk to them like I know them because I do because thus far merchants are this persons only friend. After that “new face” leaves, one of the local people will ask me who that is. I will say it is so and so and they live in so and so and they work at so and presto, the mystery of that person is no longer and the next time that person comes to the shop the local strikes up a conversation with that person. I think that the local person is delighted to talk to some one new from some place different and the new person is delighted to make meaningful contact with the fiber of the town.
We are a town of 1036 people and there are many very interesting “new” people in Parker that have been living here for 7 plus years and many local people have not met them because there had not previously been a forum to meet them. We have people that have moved here from all coasts of the US, England, Canada, South Africa, Panama, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Netherlands and once the mystery of these amazing people is taken away and they are “included” into a community, rural America becomes a very exciting place to be.
My most popular blend is “Cherrybean Blend” followed by “Carribean Queen”

What a great conversation to have about rural community!

I can’t say DT’s or Spruce Pine is like Ireland. In fact, at this time we’re still a ‘dry county’ where no beer, wine or liquor by the drink can be legally sold or served. So no pubs! That probably makes a coffee shop especially important in a county like ours.

However, DT’s did put out the welcome mat for tourists when they were the first in the area to put in WiFi, and it’s also appreciated by traveling business and sales professionals. Providing easy connection to the outside world accommodates the needs of visitors, creates a neutral ground, and a home away from home – several of Oldenburg’s characteristics of ‘third places.’

Ensuring that visitors can connect electronically with their day-to-day life when they visit our rural community, and that they do not feel isolated when they visit our mountains, seems to be essential to entice people to return and even relocate to our area. Making sure they can connect with the outside world actually makes them feel like insiders. And lots of brochures to local attractions, of course!

  5. Mike Knutson Says:

Like NC, noboby will confuse SD with Ireland — especially in winter. And you are dead on with your comment about connectivity. In fact, wireless connectivity will be a must if we hope to keep our young people.
