Buy Frisium Without Prescription, Faulkton, SD (pop. 785) has a movie theater. While doing some work in community a few years ago, next day Frisium, Frisium over the counter, the subject of the movie theater came up repeatedly in conversations. Comments ran the gamut; most residents greatly appreciated the theater because it gave them "something to do." A few, usually young people, where to buy Frisium, Frisium for sale, lamented they didn't go there much because it usually took weeks for new movies to make their way to town.
As we think more about talent attraction, we're going to be asking, purchase Frisium online, Ordering Frisium online, "What are the key amenities that will attract talented individuals to small towns?" I'm not a big moviegoer, so I tend to discount the idea of a theater as a key attractor. But an article in the New York Times, Frisium in uk, Buy cheap Frisium, suggests there's something special going on at small town theaters. (read article here)
The article notes that movie theaters are on the rise in small towns across Rural America, a trend running contrary to most economic activity. It also identifies a special relationship between these theaters and town residents.
"If we were in Los Angeles or Phoenix, Frisium in australia, Over the counter Frisium, the only reason to go to a movie would be to see it," said Cecile Wehrman, Frisium price, coupon, Delivered overnight Frisium, a newspaper editor who, with members of the nonprofit Meadowlark Arts Council resuscitated the Dakota in Crosby, where can i find Frisium online, Sale Frisium, its plush interiors now a chic black, red and silver, where to buy Frisium. Online buy Frisium without a prescription, "But in a small town, the theater is like a neighborhood, buy Frisium online with no prescription. Frisium prices, It's the see-and-be-seen, bring everyone and sit together kind of place." (source: Patricia Leigh Brown, buy Frisium without prescription, Frisium trusted pharmacy reviews, "Old Movie Houses Find Audience in the Plains," New York Times, where can i buy Frisium online, Online buying Frisium hcl, July 4, 2010.)
It's interesting to me that small movie theaters are on the rise at a time when movie rental businesses are closing down, Frisium in usa. Buy Frisium online no prescription, It's never been easier for us to stay in our homes. Download a movie or surf the net; we never have to leave. But the fact is that people want to get out and socialize. They want to feel the neighborliness that some theaters like the one in Crosby, order Frisium from United States pharmacy, Frisium to buy online, ND provide. It's clearly about the experience.
I'm not saying that every small town should rush out to develop a movie theater as a key component of its talent attraction strategy. But I hope they think about how they can create a way to help people connect.
Note: The NY Times article tells us that ND has 31 operating historic movie theaters. I know of a few in SD, including Platte, fast shipping Frisium, Frisium tablets, Britton, and Tripp. I'm wondering how the number in SD compares to ND. Can anyone help me out, real brand Frisium online. Frisium overseas,

Thanks Carol. Come to think of it, I’ve been to a movie in that theater.

(Not South Dakota but…) I just participated in a walking tour of the town of Independence, Oregon to see their downtown revitalization projects, which include a new library, improved sidewalks, flower baskets, an amphitheater, a soccer field, and an 8-screen cinema. The movie theater, which helped jump start the downtown revitalization process, is located in the historic district and draws people not only from the community but also from the surrounding areas. It has been so successful that it resulted in the opening of several new restaurants in the downtown. The movies have helped boost both the economy and the sense of community.

Alison,
I think your comments also speak to the next post titled “No outdoor amenities: What do you do?” How would you rate the outdoor amenities around Independence: low, medium, or high?
July 19th, 2010 at 10:38 am
Thanks Mike! I don’t live in Independence, but based on what I have read and what we learned during the walking tour, the outdoor amenities rate pretty well. (Riverview Park is on the river which runs along the main street. The town built an amphitheater in the park which holds outdoor concerts and events, including free movie nights, and they are in the midst of working on other projects including a recreational trail and footbridge. They also built a ball field and community garden close to the amphitheater.) I haven’t read your Outdoor Amenities post, but I will do that right now.

We follow the exploits of the Lorain Theatre in Armour, SD:
http://www.armoursd.com/?page_id=5
as well as West Point Community Theatre in Nebraska:
http://www.westpointcommunitytheatre.com/
due to similarities in size and goals of the organizations.
You mention Platte, Britton, and Tripp as places in SD with rural theaters. What other places were you thinking of?

Mathew,
I’m just curious what small towns in SD have movie theaters. I just became aware of your efforts in Wessington Springs, and I love what you are doing to spread the word. I hope people are checking out your website and social media channels. I hope you will keep us informed.

Murdo (pop. 600?) has a theatre that came to be summer 2010 (I believe). Ted Turner funds helped make that reality (he has a buffalo ranch in the northern part of the county).
Chamberlain (pop. 2500ish) has the State Theatre (www.sdstatetheatre.com and on Facebook) which is a central part of the community. I’ve shunned Netflix in order to support the theatre, which provides jobs & experience to lots of high school kids (usually girls) – who become like family there and are held to a high standard of customer service.
Miller and Winner also have drive-through theatres, too.
